Exterior Wood Coatings

Exterior coatings systems are comprised of specialized coatings that:

  • Prevent mildew and fungus
  • Protect from insects and parasites
  • Reduce tannin and sap migration to the surface
  • Expand and contract with the natural movement of the wood
  • Protect the wood from UV and moisture
  • Contain colorants that resist fading
  • Provide excellent aesthetics that beautify the wood

The complete system provides durability against weather damage while creating a look comparable with indoor industrial wood finishes.

Accessa is pleased to carry a variety of solvent-based and water-based coatings formulated for exterior exposures, from architectural and furniture applications to yachts. These products are available from such Accessa vendors as AcromaPro, General Finishes, ICA, and Sayerlack.

General Finishes’ Exterior 450
The Exterior 450 comes in both clear and pigmented bases.  There is also a white primer available in the 450 Exterior line.  Designed for brush or spray application, the Exterior 450 is available in flat, satin, semi-gloss and gloss sheen levels.
The Exterior 450 provides outdoor projects with a tough, protective finish that will withstand the rigors of sun, rain, and wind.  This product line is fortified with UV absorbers and mildewcides to minimize fading and extend the performance.  The Exterior 450 can be used on wood, fiberglass, PVC, and other composite materials.

ICA’s ARBOREA Range of Water-Based Coatings for Exterior
The use of water-based coatings on exterior wood products is now commonplace, thanks to the numerous advantages such coatings provide: reduced emissions of solvents into the atmosphere, short application times, excellent elasticity of the coating film and resistance to temperature changes and atmospheric agents, maximum coatability adn absence of any risk of self-combustion on the part of the spray fumes.
Today, the ARBOREA Range represents the perfect combination of rock-solid protection and long-lasting beauty.  The products in the ARBOREA Range provide high-levels of quality because they:
– contain pigments and UV filters that protect the wooden surface and impede the yellowing and vitrification of the coating film.
– undergo strict internal laboratory testing, not just during the experimental phase but also through subsequent sampling of individual batches, to ensure consistency of production.
– are also tested to external bodies in accordance with stringent regulatory frameworks relating to the classification of exterior coating products.
